UB SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION WELCOMES YOU
ABOUT
A Bit of Background
Here at UB Sustainable Business Association, we are driven by a single goal; To educate the School of Management (SOM) and greater UB community on the importance and viability of sustainable business practices. Our focus is to communicate the strategies business leaders are implementing to mitigate the pressing issues of climate change, pollution, social injustice, and many more, all while upholding a triple bottom line. The triple bottom line is a framework that allows companies to be profitable, while remaining conscious of their environmental and social impacts.
WHAT WE DO
EDUCATION
Knowledge and awareness are at the forefront of bringing about positive change. Members will acquire information on the most up to date sustainable business practices, and how they are being implemented to move the industry in a positive direction. Additionally, members will learn about how they can implement sustainability into their respective SOM concentrations, and as a result, into their careers. Knowledge of sustainability practices will give members a competitive edge when entering the workforce.
ADVOCACY
In the midst of devastating wildfires, extreme drought, raging hurricanes, and a pandemic, it is becoming increasingly clear that we need to change business ways to avoid even worse. We believe that business leaders are in an optimal position to help mitigate and solve these immense challenges by implementing sustainability driven solutions. We strive to advocate for this change across all business sectors.
CHANGE
The technologies needed to create a more sustainable world are here and are improving daily. The business case for sustainability is one that is economically advantageous, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible. Sustainable areas for change include:Â ESG investing, renewable energy, energy efficiency, green infrastructure, sustainable supply-chains, waste management, electric vehicles, sustainability careers, and many more. The time for change is now.
